        They saw them just after they crossed the platform, hugging the cats close to their chests and keeping their collected expressions. Zuko nearly runs into the next wall when he spots them.

        “—-Every year, and they never notice.” He lets out a small huff, head tilting as he gestures at the two girls. “I think I’ve tried talking to Hana since we were second years.” He’s told Lee this stuff before, but the reminder is always best to keep fresh in his mind. 

        As they walk, Zuko looks back, half hoping to see their mother waving, but mom’s been missing since second year as well, and no one knows where she went and dad certainly isn’t talking.

        Mindlessly, he flicks his gaze to his brother, eyeing his scar. He gets angry over it again, putting a hand on the other’s shoulder and shoving him forward with a bit of force. 

       ”Come on, if we don’t hurry up we won’t get a good seat.” 

       They get lucky, the girls with the cats are in the cabin across from them. Mai and Hana are their names, their father is known to be working his way in the ministry, and they’ve met a few times outside of school at regular tea parties or at events during the summer. Any reason for her family to show them off. 

         It’s when the trolley comes that Zuko gets an idea, “Hey, Lee. Just watch what they order, and maybe we can take notes…you know, get ahead for this year?” 

“Don’t need to remind me twice, I’m pretty sure they hate us by association at this point.”

‘Association’ being the fact that their Houses were at polar ends of the spectrum when it came to Hogwarts. Just being in Gryffindor kept the twins out of the girl’s good graces.

The walk to Platform 9 ¾’s was the same every year now. Getting themselves there on their own, walking through King’s Cross by themselves, and getting themselves situated on the train itself alone. It’d been that way for four years now, each time getting no easier than the previous ones. But then again losing your mother like they did would never truly get 'easier’. Not when you still had no real idea if she was even alive or dead.

But that was the twin’s lives now, wondering that question every single day since they got the letter informing them of Ursa’s disappearance. Zuko got more outwardly angry about it from time to time, Lee chose to more suffer in silence over their loss. One outwardly angry twin was enough, if they fed off each other’s negative emotions it’d just exacerbate the situation.

Luckily Lee only stumbled forward a step or two from his brother’s unexpected shove, so the natural reaction was a quick half-hearted glare, but he knew exactly why Zuko was in a rush. They hustled every year to get on the train in order to ensure they had whatever cabin was across from the twins they wanted to meet so badly. And this year’s luck was on their side and they got their wish.

Once they were settled in and the Hogwarts Express was pulling away from the station and into the London countryside, that’s when Zuko made the quick suggestion. Nodding and leaning forward enough to pull open the cabin door so his head could poke out, he didn’t see the trolley on either side yet.

“I can, but it’s not gotten down to us yet, shouldn’t be too long though, she always comes around for the first half of the train ride.”

Well I was going to work on my reply to Liz while I was hiding out at the library but they only have Internet Explorer (I know who actually uses that browser anymore xD) and for some stupid reason it’s not letting me click the ‘edit post’ button so I guess it has to wait until I get home in a few hours.
