He didn’t want to push his friend into answering him, but he wanted to at least show that if something was wrong, he wasn’t alone. His eyes fell to the water, watching it intently. Even if they weren’t going to talk, it was nice, sitting with a friend in such a peaceful location.
“What, I can’t think about Mai for no reason?”
That was a bit of a slip up, sure, but Zuko thinking about his girlfriend wasn’t all that unusual after all. The breeze blowing around them was nice, moving the edges of the flames just a little, pushing Zuko’s hair around on his forehead. Enough to keep him reminded where he was and not get unfocused and lost in his own mind for too long.
