it wasn’t your burden

The travel out to the shop that housed his ex-girlfriend wasn’t a long one, an hour’s ride outside the Fire Nation capitol at best, and that was including stopping once to check on his horse that he thought threw a shoe but actually didn’t.

This could either end horribly or end with him getting Mai back, and Zuko strongly hoped that it’d be the latter. After how badly things had ended between them over a year ago, the time apart could either fester those emotional wounds or help close them up; for Zuko it’d been the former.

As the Fire Lord, he’d had guards to accompany him, but for this they’d be watching the store while he spoke to Mai alone. This was not something to be discussed in public, he’d be attempting to get his girlfriend back and hopefully for good this time.

He’d just have to see what her reaction to his sudden re-appearance was as he stepped inside the shop.
